U61 uses gnu autoconf, the scripts are not perfect yet, but should
work OK to compile and try the project.

You *need* to have ClanLib to compile U61
ClanLib 0.5 seems to work OK for U61.

Here's is a summary of what you need to install U61:
zlib 1.1.3      : http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/zlib/
Hermes 1.3.1    : http://clanlib.org/
Lua 3.2         : http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/
libMikMod 3.1.8 : http://mikmod.darkorb.net/
ClanLib 0.5   : http://clanlib.org/

The following ClanLib shared libraries must be present:
clanCore   (always installed by ClanLib)
clanLua (optional in ClanLib but required by U61)
clanMikMod (optional in ClanLib but required by U61)

Once all this is ready, just type:
$ autoconf
$ ./configure
$ make
# make install (must be launched as root)
$ ./u61

There might be some errors when you run the game if
you had a previous version of U61 installed, and overwrote
it with this release. If this happens to you, please:
- remove the /usr/local/share/u61 directory or the equivalent
  directory on your system if you did not install U61 with
  the default options.
- remove the ~/.u61rc file and the ~/.u61 file
- reinstall U61.

BTW, there's an icon for U61 (u61.xpm) which can be used with Gnome, KDE,
or any other environment that supports icons.
