Using Guayadeque

Backups

Guayadeque keeps automatic backups of your configuration, collections and layouts under ~/.guayadeque/Backups/. A wait notice stays on screen while the daily snapshots run.

Configuration files

Every startup saves a per-execution copy (guayadeque.exec-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.conf, the last 7 startups) plus one daily copy (guayadeque.daily-YYYYMMDD.conf). If the main configuration file is missing or corrupt, the newest valid backup is restored automatically, and saves are atomic (temporary file plus rename).

Layouts and collections

At most once per day, the Layouts folder is snapshotted to Backups/Layouts/YYYYMMDD/ and the Collections folder to Backups/Collections/YYYYMMDD/, keeping the relative tree with each database compressed as *.db.tar.gz. These are backup-only copies; nothing is ever restored from them automatically.

Preferences -> General -> Keep daily backups (7 by default) sets how many daily copies and day snapshots are kept; the per-execution rotation always keeps the last 7.
